A lawsuit over the alleged origins of the COVID-19 virus was recently filed against the nonprofit group EcoHealth Alliance and its president, Peter Daszak. According to the complaint, family members of four people who died after contracting COVID-19 believe that researchers funded by EcoHealth allowed the novel SARS-CoV-2 to escape a lab located in Wuhan, China, causing a global pandemic.
The six plaintiffs claim that EcoHealth Alliance did not ensure that adequate security measures were implemented at Wuhan Institute of Virology, a laboratory that it partially funded. They also claim that the company and Daszak knew of the potential dangers associated with the virus being developed and studied at the lab.
In a complaint drafted in part by attorney Gregory Stapp, the plaintiffs allege that both EcoHealth Alliance and Daszak allowed “abnormally dangerous research on coronaviruses, including genetically modifying them for the purpose of enhancing their virulence, transmissibility and lethality for human beings, or intentionally designing them to be especially dangerous to human beings.”
As of Aug. 9, 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO) has documented 769,369,823 global cases of COVID-19. Of these, there have been 6,954,336 deaths.
Gregory Stapp has this to say regarding the lawsuit and future potential cases:
“Our office is proud to file this lawsuit along with Patricia Finn and MAFA (www.makeamericansfreeagain.com) on behalf of victims and their families who were injured or killed by SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19. EcoHealth Alliance and others were part of the development of this virus and, as such, are responsible not only for producing the virus but for the failure to properly handle it. If you or a loved one has been severely injured on killed as a result of COVID-19, please contact our office.”
